El Mesías, de Haendel

Tras 27 años de historia, The Sixteen, el coro que fundara Harry Christophers, está considerado como uno de los conjuntos vocales más prestigiosos del mundo, con una reconocida fama por su claridad de interpretación y por su intensidad dramática. Su repertorio incluye desde la polifonía europea antigua y las obras maestras del Renacimiento y del Barroco, hasta los corales del siglo XX. El Mesías de Haendel, una de las obras más populares del repertorio clásico, y la más conocida de su autor, llegará a Baluarte el 20 de diciembre como preludio de la Navidad. El conjunto coral estará acompañado por su orquesta barroca, The Symphony of Harmony and Invention. The Sixteen cuenta con más de 90 grabaciones en su haber (Virgin, Chandos, Collins, Hyperion, Linn), destacando entre todas ellas justamente la del Mesías de Haendel para Hyperion, que recibió el Grand Prix du Disque en 1987. Este año están llevando a cabo un ambicioso proyecto de peregrinación por más de 20 catedrales británicas con un programa de música para la Capilla Sixtina del Vaticano.
