Haendel-en 'Mesias'

27 urte dira Harry Christoprhers-ek The Sixteen korua sortu zuenetik eta, orain, munduko ahots talde garrantzitsuenen artean kokatua dago, ospe handiko interpretatze garbiagatik eta erakusten duen indar dramatiko hunkigarriagatik. Koruak aurkezten duen errepertorioan Europako aintzinako polifoniak, Errenazimendu eta Barrokoaren lan onenak eta XX. mendeko koralak aurkitu ditzakegu. Haendelen Mesias, errepertorio klasikoaren lan ospetsuenetarikoa eta musikariaren lan ezagunena, Baluartera Gabonen atarian iritsiko da, abenduaren 20an. Korua The Symphony of Harmony and Invention orkestra barrokoaz lagunduta agertuko da eszenatokian. The Sixteen-ek dagoeneko 90 grabazio baino gehiago egin ditu (Virgin, Chandos, Collins, Hyperion, Linn), baina hauen artean Hyperion-entzako egin zuen Haendelen Mesias-en grabazioa azpimarratu behar da ain zuzen ere, 1987an Grand Prix du Disque saria lortu bait zuen. Bitartean, koruak aurten anbizio handiko proiektu bati egin dio aurre: Erresuma Batuko 20 katedraletan abestu nahi du Vatikanoko Sixtotar kaperarentzako eginiko egitarau musikal batekin.
